23 June 2017 – Based upon the success of the recent Phase III Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) contract to create, document, demonstrate and commercialize a process that produces Mean Cumulative Function (MCF) and Rate of Occurrence of Failure (ROCOF) analyses, TQS was awarded a contract Option to continue the research and to demonstrate the value of MCF and ROCOF on additional Line Replaceable Units (LRUs). MCF provides a new and improved way to measure and track LRU performance with respect to installed aircraft flying hours, as well as by a calendar date-time line.
These analyses provide metrics that are more informative than current methods involving Mean Time Between Failure to track and measure unscheduled removal events for an LRU. These analysis plots show important trend analysis metrics that can be adapted to support the Weapon System Flexible Sustainment and Product Lifecycle Sustainment Management (PLSM) goals of improved efficiency and effectiveness, improved reliability, availability and maintainability, as well as provide better supply support to the Warfighter. These metrics provide added and truthful insight into the reliability of USAF LRU assets in addition to improved ways to track asset performance and changes following significant events such as modifications
