TQS successfully delivered the last in a series of Intermittent Fault Detection and Isolation System (IFDIS) Test Program Sets (TPSs) under contract to support F/A-18 weapon system readiness improvements. The latest Test Program Set (TPS) delivery enables IFDIS testing for the F/A-18 Radar Receiver by supplying the TPS software and Interface Test Adapter (ITA). The IFDIS provides a unique capability to test avionics chassis for intermittent failures in an operationally relevant environment (vibration, temperature extremes, and Gs) that are not found by traditional avionics Automatic Test Equipment (ATE) and pinpoint their locations so precision repairs can be made by technicians. Repairs of these IFDIS-found intermittent connection failures are usually easy to accomplish once their exact locations are known, and the payback in increased time-on-wing has been demonstrated to be huge – many times doubling or tripling the operating hours they had previously been experiencing. TQS’s award-winning IFDIS is the result of a competitively awarded SBIR funded project TQS began developing in 2001 and has since delivered six IFDIS systems and 13 TPSs to the DoD which have provided improved operational reliability for the Warfighter.
