TQS was awarded a new Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase I contract by the Department of Commerce’s National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to develop an automated “Permit Wizard” on July 17, 2018. This topic seeks development of an automated permit assistant for marine aquaculture. TQS will draw on its considerable enterprise software development experience to perform proof of concept research and initial system design that will dramatically reduce time and effort for completion of permit documents such as Environmental Assessments, Environmental Impact Statements, Corps of Engineer permits, etc. The “Permit Wizard” will alleviate the problem that Aquaculture producers are currently faced with: slow, complex and often confusing permitting processes that must be completed before they can begin operations. Simplifying and expediting the permit process will lead to increased aquaculture production.
